KKR Completes Acquisition of Two South Korean Waste Treatment Companies (2020.08)

KKR & Co. completed acquisitions of 100% stake in ESG, a medical waste treatment firm, and 77.8% stake in ESG Cheongwon, an industrial waste management company, from Anchor Equity Partners. The total combined value of the two acquisitions amount to a value of 875 billion won (around $739M USD) and is KKR’s first buyout deal in Korea in the past two years. The deal highlights South Korea’s growing medical waste treatment market backed by the expansion of senior care through increasing life-expectancy rates in South Korea.
